With all the technology available to us in this day and age it is becoming easier to truly explore the restaurants in any city. The yellow pages are obsolete with the advent of new resources that help you figure out where you want to eat based on how much you want to spend and what you're in the mood for. Here are some of the best and how they work.
Urban Spoon
This site, which also has a mobile app for the foodie on the go, allows you to look through restaurants based on location, type of food, price, location and rating. There are very helpful reviews from customers and it provides a percentage of people who like the restaurant. Not only that but you can often peruse the menu in most cases. This resource is very detailed and has up to date information on restaurants everywhere, no matter how small the town.
Food Spotting
This site, which also features an mobile app, allows you to search for restaurants, types of food, particular dishes and location. This doesn't just tell you were you can eat but it give you specifics on what is good and what is not. It was pretty helpful when I moved to Fort Collins and found myself in search of a new place to get a killer mole burrito!
Zagat
Like the others this site does have a mobile app. Zagat is very useful when you are looking for a more professional take on where to find a good restaurant. Zagat has an exhaustive guide even if there is not a lot of information on each restaurant. It will give you a great place to begin if you have no idea where you want to eat.
