Coffee shops are a must for me as a student. Not only can they supply me with that sweet elixir of life that grants me the ability to get up in the morning and accomplish all of the multitudes of things that I must do over the course of the day, but they also provide essential study areas for me to finish my work during the week. On the weekend they serve as a meeting place, a chat room, and an entertainment venue. I demand a lot out of a good coffee shop. In honor of that fact here are some of the best in Fort Collins.
The Alley Cat
This is a great coffee shop for the social as well as studying alone or in a group. The shop is small and can get very crowded but if you venture in before noon you will certainly find a place to sit. The coffee good, the chai is great and the food is excellent. Their pesto sandwich is a personal favorite of mine. The decor is totally wacky and works really well for a business that is across the street from a major university. The best part about the Alley Cat is that it is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. What could be more convenient.
The Bean Cycle
From the fixies chained outside to the poetry slam on the first Friday of every month, this place is a total hipster mecca. Be that as it may, I love it. With a book shop in the back and an awkward second level lounge with comfy leather chairs, it totally won my heart and I'm sure will win yours. The coffee and baked goods are, of course, exceptional and the events are so hipster it hurts (in a good way). I come here so often, and for so long I've gotten a couple different parking tickets from the city because the parking outside only accommodates 2 hours. This shop is great for productivity as well as a good chat.
Wild Boar
This is a really good place if you want to study with a group, especially for a long time. The food is delicious, of course, and there is a lot of table seating that will accommodate a large group. There are a wide variety of food and drink options, so this place is perfect if you plan to stay and study for a long time and might need a meal or too. This place isn't all work and no play though, their selection of beers is really stellar as well.
